• Stranger Chat needs no account, email or profile.
• We do not sell your personal information.
• You can ask us to access, correct or delete your information.

Information you give us

• Account details: your name or username, email address and password (stored in protected form), and optional profile details such as an avatar.
• Content: messages, glimpses, stories and group chats you send or post in Friends & Stories.
• Stranger Chat choices: interests you pick to be matched, and the messages you send during a chat.
• Reports and messages to us: anything you send when you report a user or contact support.

Information collected automatically

• Technical data: IP address, browser and device type, language and approximate location derived from your IP address.
• Usage data: pages visited, features used and basic diagnostics, so we can fix problems and improve OpenPress.
• Safety signals: information that helps us spot spam, abuse and ban evasion.

• to create your account and deliver chats, stories, glimpses, streaks and group chats;
• to match you with someone in Stranger Chat, including by interests;
• to keep OpenPress safe: reviewing reports, preventing abuse, enforcing our Terms and Community Guidelines;
• to understand how OpenPress is used and make it faster and easier;
• to send important service messages such as password resets;
• to meet legal obligations.

Stranger Chat does not ask for your name, email or a profile, and the other person is not shown who you are. Anonymous does not mean invisible to us: we may process technical data such as your IP address to run the service and to protect people from abuse.

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only in these situations:

• With people you chat with: friends and group members can see what you send them, and friends can see your stories.
• With service providers who help us run OpenPress, such as hosting and email, and who may only use the data to provide those services.
• For safety and legal reasons: if the law requires it, or if we believe it is needed to protect someone’s safety, we may share information with the appropriate authorities.
• If our business changes, for example in a merger, in which case this policy will continue to protect your information or we will tell you about any change.

• Stories are designed to disappear after 24 hours, and vanishing glimpses after they have been seen.
• Account information is kept while your account is active and deleted within a reasonable time after you close it.
• Reported content and safety records may be kept for longer when needed to review abuse, protect users or meet legal duties.

We use cookies and browser storage that are needed to keep you logged in, remember choices such as light or dark mode, and keep the service secure. We may also use basic analytics to understand how OpenPress is used. You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings, but parts of OpenPress may stop working.

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information. No online service can promise perfect security, so please use a strong, unique password and keep it private.

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

• access the personal information we hold about you;
• correct information that is wrong;
• delete your account and information;
• object to or limit certain uses of your information;
• receive a copy of your information in a portable format.

Stranger Chat is for people aged 18 and over. Friends & Stories is not for children below 13 (or the minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect information from children below the minimum age. If you believe a child has given us information, please contact us and we will remove it.

OpenPress can be used from anywhere, so your information may be processed in countries other than your own. Where we do this, we take steps to protect it in line with this policy.

We may update this policy from time to time. We will change the date at the top of this page and, for important changes, let you know in a clear way.
