Websites and web apps built to grow with your business.

From a fast, accessible marketing site to a full web application, we design and build the whole thing ourselves — no page builders, no outsourced hand-offs. Primarily serving clients across the US, with a growing base throughout North America.

Built in-house, no subcontracting

Why work with us

We're a new studio. Here's what that actually gets you.

No twenty-year track record to point to yet — so instead of a wall of logos, here's what we commit to in writing on every project.

You own 100% of the code

Every line we write is yours outright, built on standard, portable tech — no proprietary lock-in and nothing held back if you ever want to move it elsewhere.

Built in-house, not subcontracted

The same people who scope your project write every line of it — no outsourced team you never actually meet.

Direct line to the builders

You reach the people who'd actually build your project, not an account manager relaying messages back and forth.

Scope fixed in writing, upfront

A written brief fixes scope and budget before any design work starts, so there's no surprise invoice later.

What we build

Marketing sites, content platforms, and custom web apps.

Web development at OpenPress covers everything from a fast, editorial-grade marketing site through to a fully custom web application with its own backend, database, and user accounts.

We build and maintain the platform ourselves end to end — the same people who scope the project write the code, so nothing gets lost between a sales call and a developer who's never seen the brief.

Performance-first

Fast by default, not as an optimisation pass at the end.

Accessible

Built to WCAG-aligned standards from the first component.

Privacy-law aware

Data handling built with US state privacy laws (like the CCPA) in mind.

Supported

We stay reachable after launch, not just until invoicing.

Our skillset

Platforms and technologies we build with.

We stay deliberately narrow — a short list of tools kept genuinely production-ready, rather than a long list kept up half as well.

Frontend

Interfaces that feel fast and stay maintainable.

JavaScript React HTML5 CSS3 Tailwind CSS

Backend & CMS

The platform behind the interface, matched to the project.

WordPress Django Node.js PHP Python

Infrastructure & Data

Where it runs and where the data lives.

Linux MySQL Nginx REST APIs
How long it takes

A short, predictable path from brief to launch.

Discovery & scope

3–5 days

A short call plus a written brief to fix scope, platform, and budget before any design starts.

Design

1–2 weeks

Wireframes through to a full visual design, reviewed together at each stage.

Development

2–6 weeks

Built on the platform chosen at scoping — WordPress, Django, or a React/Node.js app — with regular check-ins.

QA & launch

3–5 days

Cross-browser and accessibility checks, performance passes, then a scheduled go-live.

Post-launch support

Ongoing

Fixes, small updates, and monitoring after the invoice clears — not before.

Where we work

US first, wider North America second, remote-friendly everywhere.

Every engagement is remote-capable, but our working hours, contracts, and communication style are built around the US and North America first.

Primary market

United States

Our home market — core hours across US time zones (ET–PT), video calls as standard, and US-standard contracts and invoicing.

Secondary market

Canada

A growing share of our client base — North America-wide overlap hours, US privacy-law-aware builds, and remote collaboration as the default.

Remote-friendly

Everywhere else

Outside the US and Canada, we still take on the right project — async-first communication, no timezone assumed.

Pricing

Clear, project-based pricing — no hourly guesswork.

Common questions

Web development, answered plainly.

Which platforms and technologies do you actually build with?
Mainly WordPress for content-led sites, Django or Node.js for custom web applications, and React on the frontend where an app needs one. We pick the platform to match the project, not the other way round.
Do you work with clients outside the US?
Yes. The US is our primary market, but a growing share of our projects are with clients in Canada, and we take on remote projects further afield too.
How long does a typical website take to build?
A focused marketing site usually takes 2–4 weeks end to end. A custom web application typically runs 6–10 weeks depending on scope. The timeline section above breaks down each phase.
Is pricing available on this page?
Not directly — we keep a dedicated, up-to-date pricing page separate from this one so it stays easy to find and easy to update. Use the pricing link below or get in touch for a quote scoped to your project.
Do you offer support after the site goes live?
Yes — the same team that built the site stays reachable for fixes, small updates, and monitoring after launch. It's part of the process, not an upsell.
Are you familiar with US data privacy requirements?
Yes — data handling, cookie consent, and third-party scripts are considered from the first build decision, not bolted on afterwards, with US state privacy laws like the CCPA in mind.

Have a website or web app in mind?

Tell us what you're building — US-based or elsewhere in North America, we read every message ourselves and reply within a couple of days.
