Archive
The full, searchable history of everything we've published, organized by date and available from the site's main navigation.
Author page
A profile page listing a reporter's byline, bio, and every story they've written for us.

B

Byline
The credit line naming the reporter (or reporters) responsible for a story, shown at the top of the article.

C

Category
A top-level section of the site — Business, Culture, Health, and so on — used to group related coverage.
Correction note
A dated note attached to a published story explaining what was factually wrong and what changed, per our Editorial Standards.

D

Dateline
The location and date at the start of a story indicating where and when the reporting took place.

E

Embargo
An agreement with a source not to publish given information until a specified date and time.

N

Newsletter digest
A scheduled email that rounds up recent coverage in a single message — see the Guides section for how to choose which one to follow.

O

Op-ed
An opinion piece written by someone outside the newsroom, published in the Opinion section and clearly separated from news reporting.
On background
Information given by a source that can be reported but not attributed to them by name, per the terms agreed with that source.

R

RSS feed
A machine-readable feed of our latest stories that lets you follow us in a feed reader instead of email or the homepage.

Sponsored content
Paid content clearly labelled as such and produced separately from newsroom reporting — see Editorial Standards for how we keep the two apart.
Syndication
